From the President
HE HAS RISEN! HE HAS RISEN INDEED!
Welcome to our web site! I hope you will take the time to ‘surf’ through this site and find out more about our SA/NT District of the Lutheran Church. If you do, you will find that our District does a lot more than you might have realised. Those who originally set up the LCA into Districts had the welfare of every congregation in mind. The LCA, through its Districts, provides congregations with resources, including people resources, to support and encourage all members to keep their focus on the ministry and mission which God has given to the church. It helps congregations to support one another in their time of need. It also enables congregations to do together what they cannot do so well on their own – like new local mission ventures and overseas mission.
The Easter celebrations are now over. Or are they? While the Easter weekend is behind us, the glorious truths that Christians worldwide hold central to their faith, remain at the very centre of our walk with God. The relationship, which God created humans to have with him, was broken. And that wrecked our relationship with our fellow humans.
But, rather than abandon us to wallow in our brokenness, God sent his Son, Jesus, to heal and restore our relationship. Jesus broke down the dividing wall of enmity which sin created. He did this by living the holy life God had first intended us to live; by suffering the punishment that we deserved; by dying in our place; and by rising from the dead to assure us that there is now new life for every person who believes in Jesus as their Saviour.
Every person is precious to God because his Son paid the price for our sin. Now, through Jesus, every person can know and experience the undeserved love and forgiveness which God freely offers to every person in the world.
I pray that you are one of those people who know God’s peace because you know Jesus.
Perhaps you are one of those who have doubts about how precious you are to God. Maybe you have had some life-experiences that have crushed your hope, and taken away your faith in a loving God. If so, click on the “District” email link on the left of this page, and just above my photo, use one of the email addresses to contact me. I, or one of our staff, would love to talk to you about the good news of Jesus’ love for you.
Happy Easter for the rest of the year!
